Erm, this bug report is about the shutdown randomly freezing in text mode immediately before it would actually turn off the power AIUI. Not about the konsole crash. So I think opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse.org is the wrong assignee here. I don't think this is related to KDE. Also, according to the mentioned forum thread, the reporter actually seems to use LXQT as desktop... I switched to Plasma after the update that included the Nouveau driver fix, and I'm using the gnome-terminal, or the embedded terminal in Dolphin. Since this switch I have not experienced any freezing at shutdown. Yesterday, shutting down from Plasma resulted in a Tumbleweed progress screen (infinity symbol with three dots below it). The dots indicated some activity, but the computer's lights didn't show any. I was eventually forced to cut the power. Does tumbleweed try to do something on shutdown? What is the purpose of this screen, and why does it appear seemingly randomly? The only thing I remember changing about the system was making the date / time automatically update. Last night it froze at the full screen terminal on shutdown. Programs used: Atom, KWrite, Chromium, Thunderbird Something I noticed the last time it froze was "LSB Virtualbox Additions Service" at the top of the full screen terminal. The next time I shutdown, that did not appear, and it did not freeze. I did a zypper dup recently (after several months of neglect) and with tumbleweed 20170804 this computer turns off without any noticeable delay! I don't even see a virtual terminal anymore. :-] No freezing yet... |
