Ah, then sorry Johannes - I misread some infos here..

@S.B. Johannes is the maintainer who decided about updates for his packages. I am merely the gatekeeper/release manager for Tumbleweed - basically everything in there is accepted by me

Gutenprint 5.2.12 is now available in the
openSUSE Build Service (OBS) project "Printing"
e.g. for direct RPM download from
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Printing/

please test it and provide feedback whether or not
Gutenprint 5.2.12 from the OBS "Printing" project
works for you.

If it works for you, I will forward Gutenprint 5.2.12
from the OBS "Printing" project to "Factory" so that
in the end Gutenprint 5.2.12 appears in "Tumbleweed".

It helps us (i.e. openSUSE) a lot to get such feedback
because for printer driver version upgrades we bacically
act like a blind man who does a shot in the dark, cf.

FYI

In general regarding forwarding a package from the
OBS "Printing" project to "Factory"/"Tumbleweed":

There are users who have the "Printing" project as one of their
active repositories which I appreciate very much because
those users are our (i.e. openSUSE's) real testers.

After a few weeks package updates in the "Printing" project
will get automatically forwarded to "Factory"
by an automated submitrequest.

When the package update is not urgent (e.g. no security update)
I keep an updated package only in the "Printing" project
until the automated submitrequest to "Factory" happens.

This way there is some time where the active users of the
"Printing" project could test the updated package.

When I do not get bug reports, it indicates that
nothing is broken in general with the updated package
so that it should be o.k. for "Factory"/"Tumbleweed".

Therefore I will wait until the automated submitrequest
to "Factory" happened and then I set this issue to "fixed".

Hi Johannes, for some reason Gutenprint 5.2.12 still hasn't made it into Tumbleweed. Thanks for the help.

The previous submission was rejected and revoked and not resubmitted after the static libraries have been moved to the devel subpackage so I created another submission: https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/514115
