nvidia-bug-report output

I did a fresh installation of LEAP 42.3, which works fine with default nouveau drivers. Since the machine has nVidia cards, I installed the RPMs for the appropriate drivers, and when rebooting the system only shows the mouse cursor.

The journalctl log only shows the following error from sddm-greeter:

"Could not initialize GLX"

after which sddm dumps its core and dies off.

I have tried to replace sddm with kdm. Kdm loads, and lets me log in, but immediately after that, the black screen with the mouse pointer is back, and nothing shows up.

I attach the output of nvidia-bug-report.sh as requested here http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1053934

Please remove "nomodeset" from your kernel command line and try again.

I have tried that, and it did not change the outcome when using the nVidia drivers.

The "nomodeset" option was needed to be able to see the installer and the boot screen when using open-source drivers.

Ok. Then I don't know either. You can try with a simpler desktop like icewm and run glxinfo there in a terminal. Maybe it reveals the real issue, maybe not.

I suggest to uninstall the RPMs and run the NVIDIA installer manually. Maybe it is the same issue. Then at least it's no packaging bug.

This was fixed by package nvidia-gfxG04-kmp-default-384.90_k4.4.76_1-26.1.x86_64.rpm and related (Oct. 4th, 2017).

Closing based on this.
