Description Forgotten User T9FYo85DY0 2018-03-02 18:25:09 UTC
Downloaded and installed off the Leap 15 beta Live CD (KDE) 03/01/2018. I notice in the installer that it does not automatically partition my whole disk even if I ask it to delete all existing data - instead it wants to use only 100 GiB or so. I have to go in and resize the volumes to my liking manually.

I would expect the installer to select and partition my whole hard drive if I'm overwriting all existing data there, but instead it only proposes to use a portion of it. I can work around this issue by manually resizing and enlarging the suggested volumes.

Thanks for your attention.

Installer default selection

This is a screenshot of the default partition size for a large disk in VirtualBox, exemplifying the unusual behavior. The allotted space is 0.67 TiB, however the installer only wants to use about 67 GiB of it.

Here's the installer log for up until the partition selection. I see in the y2log that it can see the full amount of my drive (line 2562) but seems to want to use a premade scheme anyway (line 2541).

Good spotting.

Leap 15.0 still uses a control.xml with the old partitioning section. I've no idea where this comes from.

Ludwig?

the updated control.xml with new partitioning including flat /var is blocked by bug#1078495 unfortunately.

The attempt to workaround that fails on ci for non obvious reasons https://github.com/yast/skelcd-control-openSUSE/pull/116
