Description Oliver Kurz 2018-03-23 12:46:57 UTC
On openSUSE Leap 15.0 with linux 4.12.14 the kernel module "iwlegacy" is not available making my wifi adapter "Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG/AGN" unusable. The kernel module was available in openSUSE Leap 42.3 and also in kernels from Kernel:HEAD . See https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1064252 for a corresponding SLE bug where the resolution was commented that the module would be in an additional package kernel-default-extra which does not seem to exist on openSUSE Leap 15.0. The repo https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/Kernel:HEAD provides a package kernel-default-extra which could include all necessary parts.

See https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1039700 for details about the hardware used, https://bugzilla.suse.com/attachment.cgi?id=725619 is the "hwinfo" output from an older installation on same hardware
Comment 1 Takashi Iwai 2018-03-23 13:07:12 UTC
It's an incorrect kernel configuration that was merged recently together with the split of SUSE-support config to another file. The kernel was split unexpectedly to *-extra package.

The fix was already in Jeff's user branch in the pull-request, but not merged yet.
Comment 2 Jeff Mahoney 2018-03-23 13:08:45 UTC
It's merged. It just needs the package to be rebuilt.
