Please provide YaST logs of the failed installation, see http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Bugreport_YaST. Created attachment 806004 [details]
YaST2 and other logs in tar.gz archive
Thanks for the report! In the logs I can see YaST probing for the installed product (look for "RootPart") and IIUC the problem is that it never finds /etc/os-release which should be part of openSUSE-release.rpm If you still have the 15.0 system, can you please boot that and attach the YaST logs from there? /var/log/YaST2-Directory and /etc/os-release File in an tar gz archive
File /etc/os-release is a symbolic link to /usr/lib/os-release
All Files are from my opensuse leap 15.0 system (before unsuccessfull try to upgrade to 15.1)
Hi Urs Fux, Thanks for provide the requested logs. We'll take a look soon. Meanwhile, I'll remove the [NEEDINFO] to put the report under our radar again :) I have done some tests, I was not able to reproduce the error. Test1 * Install openSUSE Leap 15.0 by using plain partitions. * Run upgrade option from Leap 15.1 DVD. * And root partition was correctly detected for upgrading it. * See attached image. Test 2 * Install openSUSE Leap 15.0 by using LVM. * Run upgrade option from Leap 15.1 DVD. * And LVM logical volume for root was correctly detected for upgrading it. * See attached image. According to the attached logs, and as Martin already commented, there seems to be a problem with the detection of /etc/os-release file from /dev/systemVG/rootLV. Could you please ensure that the filesystem over /dev/systemVG/rootLV contains the /etc/os-release file? Created attachment 811953 [details]

Upgrade from LVM
The filesystem over /dev/systemVG/rootLV contains the /etc/os-release file and always did. As I ignored the yast errormessage and selected the entry with rootLV, id now worked. I was irritated by the message and did not select the entry with rootLV. The problem is solved. Thank You. |
Created attachment 805987 [details] Photo of Screen when trying to upgrade from leap 15.0 to leap 15.1 upgrade from opensuse leap 15.0 to opensuse leap 15.1 does not work, because the old installation of leap 15.0 is not recogized by the installation process. When I upgraded from 42.3 to 15.0 about 1 year ago, it worked. May bee, it is because I use LVM.
