I can access the referenced bugs now but still can't find details about how to access pschange-mc-no. Is it also a new MSR coming in a ucode update, similar to taa-no?

I think for nested virts only the lowest (closest to metal) hypervisor needs to be fixed. Joerg would need to answer this.


For the "new silicon" on older OS question, it is difficult. Hardware enablement is usally done on newer Service Packs, not on LTSS.


So I think for this issue a fix would not be needed and I think we can avoid backporting efforts.

It does not make sense for anything older than SLE15, as the older kernel branches also don't have the necessary patch (or even the infrastructure) to report this new bit to nested hypervisors.
