Description Andras Szerencses 2020-10-09 20:36:49 UTC
It's not possible to keep Linux Standard Base in a reasonable way with current update on openSUSE Tumbleweed. Obviously let me know if this kind of packaging issue is not a matter of bug although it seems to me since it's important for several third party software and driver.
Current result with distribution upgrade:

Problem: lsb-4.0.fake-1.5.x86_64 requires /sbin/pidof, but this requirement cannot be provided
  deleted providers: sysvinit-tools-2.96-1.3.x86_64
not installable providers: busybox-sysvinit-tools-1.32.0-11.1.noarch[download.opensuse.org-oss]
Solution 1: Following actions will be done:
  deinstallation of sysvinit-tools-2.96-1.3.x86_64
  deinstallation of xorg-x11-essentials-7.6_1-16.10.noarch
  deinstallation of lightdm-gtk-greeter-branding-openSUSE-2.0-3.2.noarch
Solution 2: Following actions will be done:
  deinstallation of lsb-4.0.fake-1.5.x86_64
  deinstallation of atom-beta-1.52.0.beta0-0.1.x86_64
 Solution 3: keep obsolete sysvinit-tools-2.96-1.3.x86_64
Solution 4: break lsb-4.0.fake-1.5.x86_64 by ignoring some of its dependencies

Dominique - is it intentional that openqa doesn't catch these? otherwise it would be good to add this to the test harness.

lsb is 'so low on the requirement chain' that nothing really cares - there is no openQA test installing anything based on lsb nowadays.

not sure an openQA test would gain us anything (except maybe getting you a bug report before the user reports one - but the snapshot would certainly not be blocked on it)

The same fix is needed for Leap 15.3 (bsc#1186855).

Created SR#897449 from factory to openSUSE:Leap:15.3:Update.
Comment 9 Martin Wilck 2021-06-04 13:31:45 UTC
That SR was nonsense. We just can't use %_bindir here.
Comment 10 Martin Wilck 2021-06-04 13:39:49 UTC
New SR: 897452. Simply use /bin/pidof on Leap.
