I installed Leap 15.4 Beta yesterday, on a laptop. As part of my setup, I did turn off the screen locking.

After I leave the system idle for 10 minutes or more, then when I return the screen is black. This is expected from the power settings. So I hit the CTRL key or move the mouse. I see a black screen with a mouse cursor.

I am able to get to a virtual console with CTRL-ALT-F1 (so I can reboot that way). If I try CTRL-ALT-F7, then I see the KDE desktop. But the keyboard behaves as if dead. I cannot do anything, except CTRL-ALT-F1 followed by CTRL-ALT-DEL to reboot.

I have tried switching to GDM instead of SDDM. The same behavior, except that I need to use CTRL-ALT-F2 to see the non-responsive KDE desktop.

If I disable the screen power savings (defaults to 10 minutes), then everthing is fine with that disabled. But I don't think that's a good practice.

The behavior looks a little as if the desktop has locked, but there is no unlock screen. So I turned the screen locking back on, and set it for 9 minutes (just before the power savings takes place). And that seems to work. Now I do get an unlock screen, and that gets me going again. But it is a bit annoying to have frequently unlock, although that is not as annoying as having to reboot.

As a cross check, I have Tumbleweed installed on that same computer, and that seems to have the same KDE version. But everything behaves normally with Tumbleweed. It is only on Leap 15.4 Beta that I have this problem.

Reproducible: Always

Looks like this is the same issue as described in https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1195464

BTW, suspending the laptop by closing the lid is not working either.

I think you are right. I'll close this as a duplicate.
