Description Mike Coan 2006-04-14 17:06:44 UTC
On two separate occasions, when doing an installation of 10.1 RC1 over the internet, the installation hund at the identical point. I booted from the mini-iso cd, and installed using http and the mirros.kernel.org mirror site.

On the first installation I chose the minimal graphic installation. All files (over 400 if I remember correctly) were downloaded and installed. The next screen was "Saving Configuration" When the progress bar got to 65% and the text said

Saving package manager configuration", the bar froze adn installation stopped. The mouse was still responsive, but installation would proceed no further.

On the second installation I chose text as opposed to minimal graphical system. Fewer packaages to download. Again the installation hung at the identical point, with the progress bar at 65% and the text saying "Saving package manager configuration"

How long did you wait to verify that it really is a freeze and not only something that needs some time?

What does top output as active process in this time? Are CPU and harddisk loaded or idle?

And: please attach the y2logs.

Closing old LATER+REMIND bugs as WONTFIX - if you still plan to work on it, feel free to reopen and set to ASSIGNED.

In case the report saw repeated reopen comments, it's due to bugzilla timing out on the huge request ;(
