Description Sandner Jürgen 2006-05-23 13:47:07 UTC
My computer has onbourd 5.1 sound and an old PCI soundblaster soundcard.
I want to use soundblaster.
Both soundcards were configured, but i decided to delete the unused onboard soundcrd in Yast.
After that, the pci soundcard didn't run anymore and could not be configured again.
instead yast seems to try to configure the onboard soundcard twice.

How can i get back to the point, where yast didn't know the pci card and configures it as a new card?

Please attach /var/log/YaST2 as tarball here.

Created attachment 84813 [details]
bzip2 tar of /var/log/YaST2

to make the pci sound card run, ich changed /etc/sysconfig/hardware/hwcfg-static-sound-0:
# YaST configured sound card snd-card-0
# Ssy1.AiGzxH9IRS7:VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller
MODULE='snd-ens1371'
STARTMODE='auto'

well it runs now, but /dev/dsp does not exist ...

I have the same problem:

I have an onboard via-ac97 chip and a CM8738-based PCI Card. In yast both are shown and if I selected the via and click edit, the options for the cm8738 were displayed...

The card index was incorrectly searched.

Fixed in yast2-sound-2.13.13
