Attachments: log with failed installation sourcce addition
corrupted media.1 directory

Description Forgotten User 9WJQF5tTlz 2006-06-09 16:57:43 UTC
I've installed the updated package management packages announced today.

I have copied the contents of the retail DVD on an NFS server and tried to add it via yast2 control center. It fails.

If I mount the nfs directory locally and try to add it using the "local directory" option, it also fails.

I added it via the zen-updater successfully, though.

log with failed installation sourcce addition

The installation source is located in host "sigma" and directory /usr2/suse101.

I tried specifying this copy (in hard drive) of the DVD as an NFS source in the kernel options during a fresh install. It also fails.

By the way, the copy was made using:

rsync -a --progress -v . raffo@sigma:/usr2/suse101/

Duncan, please, take a look. The susetags source fails to use media.1/media.

Yes, media file fails to parse

Can you please attach the media directory ( /net/sigma/usr2/suse101/media.1 )

I think I have a corrupted file system. The tar ball for that directory is only 365 bytes and it should be 60455 bytes.

If you untar the ball, the directory listing is:
# ll
total 80
-r--r--r-- 1 raffo users 53 May 4 13:42 directory.yast
-r--r--r-- 1 raffo users 58421 May 2 04:42 license.zip
-r--r--r-- 1 raffo users 42 May 4 12:52 media
-r--r--r-- 1 raffo users 39 May 4 12:52 products
-r--r--r-- 1 raffo users 189 May 4 13:41 products.asc
-r--r--r-- 1 raffo users 2173 May 2 04:42 products.key
omega:/tmp/media.1 # cat *
omega:/tmp/media.1 #

These all show the right size, but all the files are empty!

I'm attaching the tar ball anyways. It doesn't seem to be a problem with Yast2

corrupted media.1 directory

Untaring this file produces all empty files, even though the long list show the right sizes.
