Description Digvijoy Chatterjee 2006-07-20 03:46:02 UTC
The install process hangs when trying to format newly created
partitions with reiser4.
I tried all different combinations of paritioning ,each time the partitions got
created but the formatting never went through. Finally I had to use fdisk
to create partitions and mkreiserfs to format them, and then asked Yast2 to install without formatting the disk, which worked.

The current state of my manually created and formatted disk is :
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 2806 22539163+ 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hda2 2807 2931 1004062+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/hda3 2932 7296 35061862+ 5 Extended
/dev/hda5 2932 7296 35061831 83 Linux

The Yast2 partitioner successfully created partition as visible on the GUI ,but after that it kept on trying to format the disk, and the progress bar never moved.

Unfortunately the attached log contains the successful installation where you did
not format at all. I would need a log where installations fails to see what
goes wrong.

You mention that you do a reiser4 installation, how do you do that, so
far there is no support for reiser4 in SL 10.2 at all.
