Description Andreas Schlehahn 2006-08-19 07:07:44 UTC
After a standard installation with both KDE and Gnome selected (KDE as standard desktop) The Gnome Session is not listed in KDM in the sessions list. It shows:

Custom
FVWM
IceWM
KDE
MWM
TWM
Failsafe

I actually installed alpha 3 twice because I thought perhaps I messed the installation up the first time. But after the second time I still don't have Gnome. Not a big loss, but I'd like to at least check out what changed from 2.12 to pre-2.16.

I found a quick (and surprisingly simple) workaround:
After creating a symlink for /usr/X11R6/bin/gnome in /usr/bin I have GNOME in the list of available desktop sessions and I can log in.

andreas@HAL9001:~/Documents> cd /usr/bin
andreas@HAL9001:/usr/bin> ln -s /usr/X11R6/bin/gnome
