Alone among all the update methods zen-updater displays new packages as well as updates (patches).  There is a mechanism to select one or the other - but only if both are present;  Otherwise no selection is possible.

It would make more sense, and probably cause less confusion, if a configuration menu tab were added to allow users to choose in advance which they want to be advised of, and make that a permenant filter.

cmr, please give your input on this suggestion.

If deemed worthwile, I still recommend punting to next release due to res/constraints.

I don't think giving the user the ability to permanently filter out certain update types is a good idea.  Also, I don't think many people care about the type of updates available, they just care that they have updates at all.
