Log of yast of the last couple of days

Description Andreas Jaeger 2006-08-31 06:50:25 UTC
I've updated with yast2 online-update and installed the packages. Everything looked fine to me. Afterwards zen-updater still shows me that patches are not installed. This looks broken to me.

Interesting, now my system was capable to install the kdebase3-32bit, which it was not able to do yesterday.

So, indeed, it looks like a caching problem.
Comment 6 Klaus Kämpf 2006-09-01 12:09:03 UTC
Related to bug 190346 ?
I don't see #190346 fixed in either 10.1 or STABLE.

| 14:55 < tambet> maw: about 202871, it's probably that zmd had not had a chance
| yet to update it's system packages
| 14:55 < tambet> there's a 30 sec delay because of how yast installs packages
| 14:55 < tambet> (one by one)

Does it always work "later"?
Comment 8 Klaus Kämpf 2006-09-02 09:13:36 UTC
comment #7: "there's a 30 sec delay because of how yast installs packages (one by one)"
YaST should notify zmd about start and end of a transaction, i.e. with a lockfile.
Comment 9 Stanislav Visnovsky 2006-09-04 08:09:23 UTC
Ad #7:

I don't know if "always". It did work after I've left my system running over night.
Comment 11 Andreas Jaeger 2006-09-05 17:39:40 UTC
What information is needed by maw?
Comment 12 Klaus Kämpf 2006-09-06 09:11:53 UTC
See comment #6

What Stano experiences looks like a delayed status update within ZMD.
This was reported in bug #190346 and fixed. However, I do not see this
fix in either 10.1 or stable.

Chris, what is the status here?
Comment 17 Chris Rivera 2006-09-21 15:29:46 UTC
The bug referenced in comment #12 is fixed for SP1. We should have packages submitted shortly after more testing. As for the delay, it's necessary to prevent continuous reloading of system packages via a transaction from something else. We need this for _anything_ that touches system packages yast, yum, smart, rum, rpm command line, etc. A reload of system packages with zmd/query-system/update-status isn't exactly cheap. You just have to live with the delay.

Don´t know if I am correct to post the bug I encountered here, but...

I performed a new instalation on a HP Pavilion DV5000 aka: AMD turion 64 37, 1 meg memory.
Somehow I managed to update the system by adding an update source. This worked fine untill I tried updating again (ZEN allway gave problems).
Now he suggest to update libzypp witch has the same version number on the server as well as intalled on my computer. giving it a couple of tries including unconditional update. I tried to install other stuff.. Nicely he cheks dependancies, tells me witch files will be updated or included and after agreeing with yast he starts to download for a few (1 or 2) seconds and then tell me that everyting has been installed and proceeds to exit.

Attached you will find a tar file of the log.

Comment 21 Andreas Jaeger 2006-10-22 14:39:31 UTC

Comment 22 Andreas Jaeger 2006-10-27 12:44:41 UTC
Mauro, what is the status here?
Comment 23 Mauro Parra Miranda 2006-10-27 20:50:14 UTC
Current 10.2 servers for beta 1 doesn't offer any patch for updating yet.

AJ, where we can get one or two?
Comment 24 Andreas Jaeger 2006-10-28 14:39:21 UTC
Harald is working on this. Harald, please assign back to Mauro once we have those.
Comment 26 Harald Mueller-Ney 2006-10-30 12:47:52 UTC
Final approval for first update (RPM only) new package for testing only. We will release a patch update for this one hopefully within hours and another patch also.
Comment 27 Harald Mueller-Ney 2006-10-30 16:18:32 UTC
First patches are out! Back to Mauro. I expect some mirrors are already filled.
If not you might want to use ftp.suse.com, even so it is much slower.
Comment 29 Harald Mueller-Ney 2006-10-31 11:49:12 UTC
Sorry, like always at the usual place:

ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/update/10.2/

sudo rug sa -t youm ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/update/10.2 10.2-updates

Comment 36 Mauro Parra Miranda 2006-11-15 22:16:56 UTC
Installed Beta2, then used the online-update to updated, two patches applied.

After that, went to zen-updater, no patch appears as "pendent".

Looks good. I will retest on beta2plus.
