Description Azerion Fagonda 2006-08-31 10:06:59 UTC
Gooday,

I have tested the ZEN-updater like mentioned in the mailinglist. As some will know I try to look at openSUSE (I know....) in the way a noob and Joe Average would do. So there we went:

- Hey my icon turned orange, lets have a look!
- Wow, where have I been? I have 20 updates.
- They are all selected, let's rock and rumble....
- Hmmmm, ZEN-updater ask me some question. It wants to instal ***** and delete X11-Xorg. Yeah, whatever it will be.
- "Yes"
- Time to get some hot coffee

==============

- Ping: This is you're screensvaer calling -> Please enter you're password
- "Password invalid"
- Anoter try
- "Password invallid"
- Check capslock, nops not enabled...weird man...
- "Password invalid"
- Darn you, freekin' SUSE!!! Time to reboot (but if I was miss Joan Average I would not do this so this would be the endpoint)

================

- Huh, where is my inlog screen?

Now you may guess where X11-xorg is installed.... Okey, I tell you: Nowhere! It has been deleted by ZEN-updater.

Check this as two problems:
1.) Password verification fails after update, maybe not ZEN's fault but a bad situation anyway.
2.) X11-Xorg deleted....what the #?

And that was supposed to be released on Friday.

Sorry, my girlfriend is going to Mexico this Friday so I am away untill then.

So, is the expectation that we should not proceed with the transaction if there are any conflicts?
Comment 2 Azerion Fagonda 2006-09-11 19:37:47 UTC
At least not with the patches that causes them.

But I guess it is fixed allready. I wonder why I did not received an email about you're comment...
Comment 3 Jawaad Tariq 2006-09-12 12:50:54 UTC
But it asked you if it was ok to remove x11!
Comment 4 Azerion Fagonda 2006-09-13 11:13:52 UTC
I know, but does Average Joe know that X11 is the GUI-server? No, so I did not 'know' it. You can not expect users to know each packagename and what they do.
Comment 5 Roger Larsson 2006-09-26 19:28:23 UTC
Can this be related to bug 208159?
This report does not mention if its x86-64 bit but it might be.
Comment 6 Azerion Fagonda 2006-09-26 19:49:03 UTC
Totally different. In my case it really asked me to remove it to fix dep-problems. And nu x86-64 here.
Comment 7 Federico Lucifredi 2006-10-11 21:55:13 UTC
the scfreensaver is a separate, known problem.

This is 10.2 alpha 4, or 4+, not 10.1 as we understand it.

AJ, can you please route the dependency problem to the appropriate person. TY
Comment 8 Bart Otten 2006-10-11 22:09:21 UTC
This never happened in 10.2 so far. Maybe because I haven't tried the ZEN-updater yet. Why do you think this is a 10.2 problem, I don't see it been mentioned here above your post.

Really, this is an very old bug and I guess it allready have been fixed by one of the zen/zypp/rug patches. This prooblem was with an test-version that came because of this a week later then schedule.

May I ask, why this bug is assigned to me?
Comment 10 Stanislav Visnovsky 2006-10-23 05:39:15 UTC
The system behaves as designed.
