Description Gabe Fernando 2006-09-03 14:17:10 UTC
After enabling and then disabling Work Offline mode in Konqueror, Konqueror still appears to be in Work Offline Mode, and going into any site or page that is not cached results in the error:

"An error occurred while loading [http://.../].

Could not access [http://.../].
Offline mode active."

where [http://.../] is the address of the page trying to be viewed. Restarting Konqueror does not solve the problem, and after rebooting the system, the Location menu shows that Work Offline is still enabled. Again, disabling Work Offline still has no effect. The only way to view web pages is to hit Refresh at each page after the error page above appears.

Still a problem with a beta? What kind of networking are you using - some kind of ppp device (modem, DSL modem?, UMTS/EDGE?).

Reopen if you can reproduce this with an RC

This is an issue with the final release of OpenSUSE 10.2 - I can reproduce this bug exactly as detailed in the original post.
Comment 4 David Giles 2007-02-03 23:24:27 UTC
Issue seems to be with the maintenance of the kio_httprc file:

If the offline option is never used then the kio_httprc file doesn't exist; else...

Online:
 cache=Refresh
 offlineModeStoredCacheMode=Refresh

Offline:
 cache=CacheOnly
 offlineModeStoredCacheMode=CacheOnly

On the occasion when this has broken for me, an additional couple of lines have appeared in the kio_httprc file:

 [$Version]
 update_info=kioslave.upd:kde2.2/r1,kioslave.upd:kde2.2/r2

Deleting the kio_httprc file fixes this.

Fixed for openSUSE 10.3 with a new offline mode for KDE 3. Please take the buildservice KDE:KDE3 RPMs if you need this fixed in 10.2.
