I experience from time to time that the required access rights to my scanner device /dev/sg1 disappear, although "sane-dev" had been activated via the runlevel editor in YaST2.
Activating it again (although the runlevel editor claims that it is already activated) in YaST runlevel editor solves the problem - also after reboot.

My guess is that the device setting (or sane-dev start at boot time) is disabled by online updates that I perormed in between.

I would like to get rid of the ugly sane-dev hack, see bug #160899.
