Description Andrew Pastuszak 2006-11-13 16:33:13 UTC
I configure SuSE 10.1's YAST to use an authenticated proxy server, and then set up rug to use authenticated proxy, as detailed in the following Cool Solution from Novell: http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/17682.html.

When I configure online update, I get an error message stating that the online update source could not be synchronized with zenworks.

If I try to add a online update source from the zmd icon in the tray, I get the following errors:

1. Dialog box that says "Failed to Add Service"
2. Dialog Box that says "Download failed: (http://mirrors.kernel.org/suse/update/10.1/repodata/repomd.xml) The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required."

The online update in Suse is able to update the workstation without issue.

Other things of note:

Running Gnome and not KDe
Gnome Control Center has proxy configured in it.

I think this problem has been fix for 10.2, please, reopen if happens again.
Comment 5 Andrew Pastuszak 2007-03-06 15:47:43 UTC
It has been fixed in 10.2. Can we backport the fix to 10.1? I am stuck using 10.1 because there is no Novell client for 10.2.
Comment 6 Stanislav Visnovsky 2007-03-08 16:46:07 UTC
I'm sorry, no. Providing online updates for maintenance stack are nightmare and break much more than fix.

Have you tried the Novell client on 10.2? I've heard it works - but this if off-topic for this bug.
