Description Forgotten User 9WJQF5tTlz 2006-11-16 13:25:42 UTC
For several SUSE Linux releases, the Yast2 software installation panel always pops up in a sort of maximized state. If you are under a KDE environment, you can click on the title bar to get it to an un-maximized size.

However, on other window managers, like enlightenment or motif, the window pops up just really large, not maximized, even larger than the screen size. It's a pain to get it to a manageable size, since you have to resize the window manually.

So, yast2 windowing behavior seems tied (or works only) in a KDE evironment. I'd prefer the window to pop up in a normal size. The user can always maximize, letting his/her window manager do it, instead of whatever the application is doing right now, that works only under KDE (as far as i know, I don't use gnome.)

No other yast2 module seems to behave this way.

That was an explicit product manager feature request some time ago.

P.S. The user can always minimize, too. It's the same icon.

Why would I want to minimize it? I want the window in a normal size, not iconified.

It is in "maximized" state when it pops up in the KDE environment. Then you can restore to its normal size.

If it pops up under, say Motif or enlightenment, it is _not_ maximized. It pops up as a large window. Clicking in the "maximize/restore" toggle in the window title bar does not restore it to a normal size.
