Description Hugo Costelha 2006-11-20 12:42:59 UTC
When the openSUSE 10.2 installation from the factory tree ended, KDE opened up with HUGE fonts. I will attach the output of "hwinfo --monitor --log=xxx" and my oringal xorg.conf (the one created during install).

Since then, I have corrected the problem by calling "sax2 --auto", which then yelded a correct configuration, so it seems that it is a problem during installation phase.

The output of hwinfo

Note, this command was ran after the configuration was already corrected, but I think it doesn't make a difference (right?).

The oringinal xorg.conf file

This is the xorg.conf file created during installation, which lead to the HUGE fonts.

Just in case you need to know, I installed last Friday from fr2.rpmfind.net. There weren't any changes to that mirror since then.

Hm, hwinfo doesn't see the monitor. Hugo, can you run the hwinfo command
again on a text console?

hwinfo from text console

I started in runlevel 3 and ran the requested command. Here is the log.

Just for the record, this is on a laptop, a NEC VERSA FS900.
Comment 6 Felix Miata 2006-11-20 13:42:02 UTC
When I run hwinfo --monitor from runlevel 3 on my i815 with Dell P991 it finds no monitor, and creates a log file containing all hwinfo.
Comment 7 Hugo Costelha 2006-11-20 14:05:55 UTC
Felix Miata, you have set the bug with NEEDINFO from me. What info do you need from me?
Comment 8 Steffen Winterfeldt 2006-11-20 14:25:38 UTC
Hm, hwinfo doesn't see the monitor, no matter what. So I think it is
not causing the DisplaySize entry.

Marcus, do you have an idea who adds the 16mm display size?
Comment 9 Felix Miata 2006-11-20 14:31:42 UTC
Bugzilla made the change by itself when I added comment 6. I've seen that happen before and don't know why it does that.

Felix Miata, that is usually beacuse there was a midair collision, but usually bugzilla warns about it to prevent it.

Humm, I knew there was a bug about the huge letters, but I was asked to open this report because of the "DisplaySize 16 16" thing (http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2006-11/msg00633.html), and I thought it had more to it in my case.

If anyone still needs something from me, I am still here.
Comment 12 Felix Miata 2006-11-20 16:33:50 UTC
Bugzilla did warn about the midair. I then hit the back button, then cut my response, then hit reload, then pasted back my response, then hit commit.
