Description Christian Hueller 2006-11-23 14:05:58 UTC
Description:

When installing a VM using the YaST2 Xen module, one can select different sources for the installation. Network based installations work fine, however installing a VM using a 10.2 RC1 install DVD/CD does not work at all. Once starting the installation one just gets the error message "Error: can't extract kernel from installation source" and jumps back to the VM config frontend

Howto repeat:

o start YaST2 and try to setup a VM using a SL10.2 DVD as install source

This is a duplicate of either bug #213852 or bug #223376. In either case it is claimed to be fixed so we will check with the next install source we get (Nov. 24 or later) and close this bug then.

The error message mentioned here makes it a duplicate of bug 223376. Once you get past that issue, though, you get to the next error which I think is still not fixed in RC2 install sources. I will mark this as a duplicate of bug #213852 so that you can watch for when the CD/DVD install issue gets fixed.
