As per the BTW part of bug #223674, I tried to remove the zmd stuff after upgrading to RC1 from Beta2 (but the same happened after a fresh install of Beta2), which complained that several patterns need to be removed as they depend on zmd. I had to confirm the removal of each pattern twice. Logs are attached to the other bug report.

Schubi, we talked about this last week. I suspect it has to do with the number of installation sources: It looks very much like the problem is reported for each instance of a package.

Raising severity to MAJOR since this really affects usability badly if there are any non-trivial dependency problems.

Schubi, I think this is for the next release.

We have found duplicate item entries in the pool. This bug has been fixed, but I am not sure if it goes to 10.2 GM. At least there will be an update.
