Description Olaf Hering 2006-12-03 09:14:59 UTC
During 10.2rc3 and later installation (after we fixed the timers related crashes in Xorg) the screensaver/screen blanker kicks in.
This happens at the beginning of the installation, right after the X process is running and yast starts to probe the mouse.
I can not always reproduce this. So far I have seen it on the powerbook g4 3 times and today on my g5. I noticed that the timezone is UTC before yast starts, and once yast is running, the timezone is EST. Maybe X gets confused by this event?

Hard to say if this is a yast or xorg bug.
Comment 1 Olaf Hering 2006-12-03 10:04:34 UTC
/etc/localtime does not exist before yast starts, then it will be a symlink to ..//usr/share/zoneinfo/US/Eastern
Comment 2 Jiri Srain 2006-12-05 09:43:11 UTC
Marcus, can it be related to bug 221272?
Comment 3 Olaf Hering 2006-12-05 09:59:03 UTC
No, it is not the same. In fact, it goes blank before the mouse probing, and before yast does anything with timezone.
Comment 4 Marcus Schaefer 2006-12-05 10:00:32 UTC
No because he is talking about the very beginning of the installation
right after yast was started in the first stage. Bug 221272 happens during
hardware configuration
Comment 5 Jiri Srain 2006-12-11 10:00:37 UTC
X11 guys, do you have any idea why the screensaver starts? YaST itself doesn't start it...
