Description Karl Eichwalder 2006-12-05 15:07:59 UTC
From within GNOME on an iBook G3 I selected "Log out" -> "Suspend the computer" -> "Ok". The first try ended with resuming automatically after 1 or 2 seconds. I tried again, and this time the iBook sits here and prints "Preparing hibernate..." with a blinking cursor and an active hard disk.

Switching to the console and then pressing Apple-F7 shows the X session again.

I do not know whether that's a mobile devices or GNOME issue, though.
Comment 1 Karl Eichwalder 2006-12-06 09:41:09 UTC
Closing the lid while the GDM login screen is displayed, crashes the system with sig 11.
Comment 2 Holger Macht 2006-12-06 14:23:01 UTC
Please attach /var/log/pm-suspend.log and dmesg after the failed suspend attempt.

Please open a new bug for the lidclose problem.

At the moment, it is online as "e96".
Comment 6 Holger Macht 2006-12-06 15:48:39 UTC
From the log:
ERROR: no resume parameter on kernel commandline, can not suspend

Add this parameter to the boot command line (resume=<your swap partition>) and try again.

How did you install? Update?

Comment 7 Karl Eichwalder 2006-12-06 16:24:00 UTC
Yes, it was an update from 10.0. Even with resume=/dev/hda8 it does not work. I'm attaching a new pm-suspend.log

There's a Oops in the log, so I think this is the same issue as in 226427
