Description Seth R Arnold 2006-12-16 00:50:45 UTC
When upgrading from SLED10 to OS10.2, I wanted to remove unnecessary packages. So I selected some to remove, and the package dependency resolution tool seemed broken.

For example, I would select e.g. "Keep glib" when some package or other relied on glib. Other packages in the dependency solver that also required glib weren't removed from the list -- and when re-running the resolution tool, the first package would still be listed as requiring glib.

I spent perhaps ten minutes running through this, and by the time I noticed that I was answering the same questions over and over again, I had lost track of what I had answered and what I hadn't answered. So I'm not sure if any of the tool worked or not. But definitely some of it didn't work as I expected.

Thanks

I'm going to close this bug as wontfix, because of long inactivity. Please reopen the bug if you can provide the needed information, thanks.

Cyril, I'm sorry I didn't do the "generate test case" menu entry at the time.. next time I find something I'll know to look for it. In the meantime, Attachment #112350 [details] includes my y2logs (for a different bugreport, I hope bugzilla's attachment handling makes them convenient enough to get from this bugreport as well. If not, I'll reattach.. but it seemed a waste to re-attach identical files oevr and over again. :)

Thanks!

reassigned to the solver maintainer

(IIRC a cross product update is an unsupported scenario)
Comment 5 Stefan Schubert 2007-01-12 10:34:56 UTC
The logfile y2log-1 is corrupted and without the testcase I cannot do very much.
Comment 6 Stefan Schubert 2007-02-09 09:33:57 UTC
Feel fre to reopen the bug, if you can provide the logfiles.
