Description Benjamen Aceler 2007-01-21 21:18:10 UTC
The issue occured, when I changed the HDD in my computer. I had a LVM partitions on the old one. So, I connected the old HDD in order to copy files form it, but LVM was not activated automatically. I tried to do it, using YaST LVM module, but it only allows me to create the new VG...

P.S. I created new VG, tried to add LV to it, failed, then restored it using console and some kind of son... And gain an expert level in LVM :)

You are right there is no possibility in YaST2 to actiavte and deactivate
LVM VGs. So far there are no plans to implement that feature in YaST2.

There are lots of features that can be done with LVM command line tools
which cannot be done in YaST2. YaST2 contains the tasks mostly needed by
an user not all possible tasks. Covering everything possible doing with LVM
command line tools with YaST2 is not planned and will certainly not be
possible with current manpower.

Sadly :(

But if I'll write an LVM manager for YaST this summer, will it have a chance to be included?

The decision about inclusion of additonal packages into openSuSE core is done
by product management.
