When starting yast2 software manager either from control-center or via ncurses a message box appears "initializing target system" and "scanning rpm database", when the 100% level is reached, yast2 software manager quits without further notice.

tried to upload the yast2 logs, file  y2logs.tgz  rejected as too large:

"The file you are trying to attach is 6707 kilobytes (KB) in size. Non-patch attachments cannot be more than 5120 KB.
We recommend that you store your attachment elsewhere on the web, and then insert a link to it in a comment, or in the URL field for this bug. Alternately, if your attachment is an image, you could convert it to a compressible format like JPG or PNG and try again."
