Description Alois Popp 2007-03-07 10:46:22 UTC
I tried to install openSUSE 10.2 on a active bios- or fake-Raid system.
MB: Asus A7V600 with VIA VT8237
HD: 2 x 250 GB with Win2k on 4 NTFS Partitions, total ~55GB, rest free for Linux
I select new installation, and on partitons I found my existings fakeraid partitions 1 - 3 and 5.
So I selected as expert the proposal with LVM and got: 6: boot, 7: / (root) with LVM, and run the installation as follows in german:

Vorbereiten der Festplatte
Volume-Gruppe wird aus /dev/mapper/via_caacafaeih_part7 erstellt:
(bar with 0%)
ERRORBOX:
*****
Fehler
Bei der folgenden Aktion ist ein Fehler aufgetreten:
Volume-Gruppe wird aus /dev/mapper/via_caacafaeih_part7 erstellt
Systemfehlercode: -4000
echo y | pvcreate -ff -M2 /dev/mapper/via_caacafaeih_part7:
Device /dev/mapper/via_caacafaeih_part7 not found (or ignored by filtering)
( OK )
*****
and the System is stopped

SOLUTION: I installed it without LVM :(
kind regards
Alois Popp
