Description Forgotten User 2AXImBTIXA 2007-03-20 09:25:30 UTC
using ZEN to update my openSUSE 10.2 lasts several hours per patch. With YOU, this was a matter of seconds. Please bring back YOU and omit ZEN, or accellerate ZEN.

Using top, I find out that the process that lasts so long is called parse-metadata
Comment 2 Cristian Rodríguez 2007-03-20 18:26:48 UTC
We all know it is slow and broken.

what you need to do in your case is remove it, it is not neccesary for yast to work

/etc/init.d/novell-zmd stop
rpm -e zmd libzypp-zmd-backend sqlite-zmd rug zen-updater

after that you can use

a) zypper for the command line
b) opensuseupdater for update notification/installation

For your information, this bug has been fixed in openSUSE 10.3 alpha1 where ZenWorks is not part of the default installation anymore.

This bug is duplicated of many other bugs, I have choosen 241514.
