Usually happens when I am updating something using YAST. After the error occurs, yast slows down to a snails pace.  Here is the bug report given by gnome:

i just installed opensuse10.2 on one of my system. along with kpowersave and quite few application in gnome are dependent on this crash, causing gnome-apps to run on very minimal features. the gnome-application menu has dissapeared all together. i presume the rebuilding of library is required. this has forced me to switch to KDE instead. update the 10.2 repository with the latest glibc package plz.. the glibc-debug package too was installed still the debug messages are not to be seen.

this bug seems to be different, i added a pacman repository into the catalouge in another fresh installation of opensuse.... when choose pidgin, lot of system libraries were updated in the process... 

that included glibs, gtk, x11 libs... when system was rebooted, gnome broke.
switched over to kde, when used f-spot to upload the pics to picassa, i got the same above exception, pasting it below again... this error occurs very frequently with kpowersave, gnome-powersave.....

Hi,

The bug is really bug 224409. The f-spot issue is unrelated, and I remember getting some similar stack traces in the past. It has been fixed since then, so openSUSE 10.3 shouldn't have this issue.
