Yast hardware info
I added the hardware info as an atachement 10.3 Alpha 3 works! I downloaded and installed 10.3 A3 and the ethernet problem is gone. Here is what I know about sky2 version changes: 10.3 A3 has 1.13 (works) 10.3 A2 has 1.10 (no work) 10.2 GA has 1.10 (no work) 10,1 GA has 0.15 (works) So some change between sky2 version 1.10 and 1.13 solved the problem. So hopefully this is fixed. |
Using 88E8052 ethernet port in ASUS P5W64WS PRO with sky2 driver. Opensuse 10.3, ethernet hangs during receive and will not allow a full web page to display. If I go to opensuse.org the letters will appear and the normal green color will not display, the browser just spins waiting. This occurs for almost all sites. It seems only very small pages work. This was tested using Firefox and konqueror so this is not a browser issue. This problem DOES NOT occur with SUSE 10.1 or Windows. It started on 10.2 so I gave up on 10.2. I was hoping 10.3 fixed it but it did not. The motherboard is an ASUS P5W64WS PRO and ethernet is connected to a Linksys RV041 router running in 100mb. I tried: Using a gigabit switch, delete/install the device, etc. I have DMESG, CAT /PROC/INTERRUPTS, and ETHTOOL output as well as hardware info. Below is the smaller of the files. The larger HW info will be sent on request. cat: /proc/interupts: No such file or directory mario@static-host:~> cat /proc/interrupts CPU0 CPU1 0: 311516 0 IO-APIC-edge timer 1: 234 0 IO-APIC-edge i8042 6: 7072 0 IO-APIC-edge floppy 8: 5 0 IO-APIC-edge rtc 9: 0 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi acpi 12: 4 0 IO-APIC-edge i8042 14: 14015 0 IO-APIC-edge libata 15: 0 0 IO-APIC-edge libata 17: 192 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi libata, uhci_hcd:usb2 20: 184 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi HDA Intel, uhci_hcd:usb4 21: 15672 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi uhci_hcd:usb1, ehci_hcd:usb5 22: 0 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi uhci_hcd:usb3 23: 3 0 IO-A PIC-fasteoi ohci1394 218: 143 0 PCI-MSI-edge eth0 219: 83990 0 PCI-MSI-edge libata NMI: 0 0 LOC: 309755 309869 ERR: 0 MIS: 0 Settings for eth0: Supported ports: [ TP ] Supported link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full 100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full 1000baseT/Half 1000baseT/Full Supports auto-negotiation: Yes Advertised link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full 100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full 1000baseT/Half 1000baseT/Full Advertised auto-negotiation: Yes Speed: 100Mb/s Duplex: Full Port: Twisted Pair PHYAD: 0 Transceiver: internal Auto-negotiation: on Current message level: 0x000000ff (255) Link detected: yes mario@static-host:~> dmesg Linux version 2.6.20.2-2-bigsmp (geeko@buildhost) (gcc version 4.1.3 20070218 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux)) #1 SMP Fri Mar 9 21:54:10 UTC 2007 BIOS-provided physical RAM map: sanitize start sanitize end copy_e820_map() start: 0000000000000000 size: 000000000009fc00 end: 000000000009fc00 type: 1 copy_e820_map() type is E820_RAM copy_e820_map() start: 000000000009fc00 size: 0000000000000400 end: 00000000000a0000 type: 2 copy_e820_map() start: 00000000000e5000 size: 000000000001b000 end: 0000000000100000 type: 2 copy_e820_map() start: 0000000000100000 size: 00000000bfe80000 end: 00000000bff80000 type: 1 copy_e820_map() type is E820_RAM copy_e820_map() start: 00000000bff80000 size: 000000000000e000 end: 00000000bff8e000 type: 3 copy_e820_map() start: 00000000bff8e000 size: 0000000000052000 end: 00000000bffe0000 type: 4 copy_e820_map() start: 00000000bffe0000 size: 0000000000020000 end: 00000000c0000000 type: 2 copy_e820_map() start: 00000000ffb00000 size: 0000000000500000 end: 0000000100000000 type: 2 copy_e820_map() start: 0000000100000000 size: 0000000040000000 end: 0000000140000000 type: 1 copy_e820_map() type is E820_RAM BIOS-e820: 0000000000000000 - 000000000009fc00 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000000009fc00 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000000e5000 - 0000000000100000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 0000000000100000 - 00000000bff80000 (usable) BIOS-e820: 00000000bff80000 - 00000000bff8e000 (ACPI data) BIOS-e820: 00000000bff8e000 - 00000000bffe0000 (ACPI NVS) BIOS-e820: 00000000bffe0000 - 00000000c0000000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000ffb00000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 0000000100000000 - 0000000140000000 (usable) 4224MB HIGHMEM available. 896MB LOWMEM available. found SMP MP-table at 000ff780 Entering add_active_range(0, 0, 1310720) 0 entries of 256 used Zone PFN ranges: DMA 0 -> 4096 Normal 4096 -> 229376 HighMem 229376 -> 1310720 early_node_map[1] active PFN ranges 0: 0 -> 1310720 On node 0 totalpages: 1310720 DMA zone: 32 pages used for memmap DMA zone: 0 pages reserved DMA zone: 4064 pages, LIFO batch:0 Normal zone: 1760 pages used for memmap Normal zone: 223520 pages, LIFO batch:31 HighMem zone: 8448 pages used for memmap HighMem zone: 1072896 pages, LIFO batch:31 DMI 2.4 present.
