Description Forgotten User 5_CWdqbCuR 2007-04-30 14:19:25 UTC
Just updated my openSuse 10.2 with the latest kernel update and now cannot bootup into the system.
Running x86-64 on a Pentium D EMT64 machine with 2GB RAM. Plenty of space on /root and /home.
BIOS Raid running on the hard drive. So /dev/mapper is being used.

After the update, I saw a separate entry in my grub loader for - kernel-2.6.18.8-0.1-default ehich ends with an error stating
{
root (/dev/mapper/nvidia_hcidfife_part5)
Error 23: Error while parsing number
}

Loading up the default Grub entry shows the below error
{
root (hd0,4)
 Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18.2-34-default root=/dev/mapper/nvidia_hcidfife_part8 vga=0x31a  resume=/dev/mapper/nvidia_hcidfife_part6 splash=silent
}

PLEASE HELP!
