I have noticed that the menus under YaST2 Control Center are correct (pt_PT) but icon labels are not (they are incorrect in pt_BR). With the help of Karl Eichwalder we have found that somewhere in the process of migrating translation files to svn server, some files were lost, being replaced by a pt_BR version. The 10.2 release of openSUSE occured before we saw this error, so many messages were in pt_BR instead of pt_PT. Translation files were recovered, and translation work is now being done. I propose to close the bug I'm reopening this bug report because it's still existing in openSUSE 10.3 alpha 6 (KDE CD install) and AFAIK it shouldn't (http://en.opensuse.org/Roadmap/10.3#Thu.2C_Jul_19_____openSUSE_10.3_Alpha6_release) Maybe changing the Product field to openSUSE 10.3 would be better. It would help if you could attach a screenshot and check the desktop file from where the wrong translation originates. Find the YaST desktop files in /usr/share/applications/YaST2 . Maybe, I just must update update-desktop-files once again. Wrong files (pt_PT isn't pt_BR) groups/misc.desktop groups/security.desktop bootloader.desktop bootmsg.desktop cd_update.desktop checkmedia.desktop controller.desktop dirinstall.desktop disk.desktop dns.desktop firewall.desktop groups.desktop host.desktop ... (skipping - too much files :-/ but following this sequence they also should be wrong) sw_single.desktop sw_source.desktop sysconfig.desktop timezone.desktop users.desktop x11.desktop yast-language.desktop pt_PT == pt_BR (which doesn't means that it's using pt_PT translations): groups/network_devices.desktop groups/network_services.desktop groups/system.desktop dsl.desktop tv.desktop .desktop translation missing/not applied (maybe because the word in English and in Portuguese are the same?!): groups/hardware.desktop groups/software.desktop Screenshot from all YaST tabs (Software, Hardware, etc)? Till your confirmation I'll only attach from one tab. Created attachment 152244 [details]

Also happening with KControl displaying "Mouse" in Peripherals (en/pt_BR) instead of "Rato" (pt_PT) - need screenshot too? On openSUSE 10.2 it's ok. Karl, considering the main screen in YaST2 Control Center, the screenshot shows the string "Gerenciamento de Software", that one is in pt_BR. I looked that in all pt_PT tree, and this string doesn't show up anywhere. Under pt_PT it should say "Gestão de Software", and i think is under lcn/pt/po/patterns.pt.po. The screenshot that Carlos is showing is exactly the same as one from 10.2 retail. Are you sure that openSUSE Alpha 6 have all translations from recent files, or are they just being copied from 10.2? If that is happening, we already knew that this error was there, and we should wait until recent translations are merged into 10.3 before jumping into more conclusions. What do you think? (In reply to comment #8 from Antonio Martins) > Under pt_PT it should say "Gestão de Software", and i think is under > lcn/pt/po/patterns.pt.po. The string/text is also there but I believe we're talking about the string inside update-desktops-files.po - KBabel says "Name(sw_single.desktop)" which is the case. Another one: GRUB is set to Brazilian Portuguese About GRUB: please see BUG #271818 As far as I can see, you updted update-desktop-files to fix the problem. Can one of you please verify on the next beta whether the bug is finally gone? Karl, update-desktop-files is ok now. GRUB issue stills on b2 (BUG #271818) but maybe it's not up to you, you lucky ;-) Antonio, what do you have to say? Can we close this bug with resolution:fixed ? Portuguese version seems fine now, thank you karl. |
