Description Stefan Dirsch 2007-05-03 13:58:46 UTC
See $subject. Looks good when using i810 driver.
Comment 1 Stefan Dirsch 2007-05-03 14:40:56 UTC
Strange. I can't reproduce this issue at all on my 915G machine. Adjusting severity.
Comment 2 Stefan Dirsch 2007-05-03 14:45:59 UTC
The 915G machine with the broken colors is fornax.
Comment 3 Stefan Dirsch 2007-05-03 14:47:14 UTC
The 915G machine with correct colors is delen.
Comment 4 Stefan Dirsch 2007-05-04 10:29:57 UTC
Could you attach /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log when the broken colors are active? Maybe I can reproduce with the same configuration when also connecting to a CRT monitor.
Comment 5 Stefan Dirsch 2007-05-04 10:30:32 UTC
See my comment #4.

Comment 8 Stefan Dirsch 2007-05-04 12:30:47 UTC
Unfortunately with your xorg.conf I've got a blank screen on my CRT. :-( Could you test with my modified xorg.conf I'll attach? I cannot reproduce wrong colors with my xorg.conf.

The new xorg.conf already includes the changes, which are required for the new intel driver anyway. SaX2 is not adjusted yet to the new driver scheme, another already filed bug.

xorg.conf

Modified xorg.conf for testing.
Comment 10 Holger Sickenberg 2007-05-07 14:05:34 UTC
It looks good now. But just with the 1280x1024 resolution.
Comment 11 Stefan Dirsch 2007-05-07 15:19:20 UTC
Thanks. I would like to have a look at this again to play with xrandr to switch resolutions. It would be pretty strange if it depends on the resolution.
Comment 12 Stefan Dirsch 2007-05-08 16:28:14 UTC
With the new config in place also other resolutions work fine. You can change between them with "xrandr --output VGA --mode <mode>". I'll let this one as long as SaX2 is not adjusted to the new intel driver. See Bug #270846.
Comment 13 Stefan Dirsch 2007-05-11 07:57:45 UTC
JFYI.
Comment 14 Holger Sickenberg 2007-05-14 11:24:11 UTC
Same problem with alpha4
Comment 15 Stefan Dirsch 2007-05-14 13:42:22 UTC
Yes, I know.
Comment 16 Stefan Dirsch 2007-07-06 18:05:21 UTC
I'm afraid this won't be fixed before Beta1. :-(
Comment 18 Holger Sickenberg 2007-07-31 14:26:14 UTC
I discovered the same problem with a Nvidia graphic card at same monitor. It looks that this is maybe a clocking problem of the monitor.
Comment 19 Stefan Dirsch 2007-08-02 14:18:34 UTC
Hmm. Very strange indeed. BTW, we likely won't get the SaX2 fix before Beta2. See the depending bugreport for more details.
Comment 20 Stefan Dirsch 2007-08-02 19:00:07 UTC
Since this also happens with NVIDIA this looks more and more like a strange monitor issue. Lowering severity.
Comment 21 Stefan Dirsch 2007-08-02 19:00:42 UTC
major --> normal
Comment 24 Holger Sickenberg 2007-08-09 12:19:09 UTC
Problem with new monitor but correct monitor selected in SaX:
selected mode is out of range -> no picture at all

So there is still a problem.
Comment 25 Stefan Dirsch 2007-08-09 13:07:11 UTC
No picture at all. This must be a different problem then.
Comment 26 Holger Sickenberg 2007-08-09 13:29:57 UTC
My guess is that the old monitor tried to display a mode it can't really display -> wrong colors. The new monitor just says: I can't display that mode -> no picture
Comment 27 Stefan Dirsch 2007-08-09 13:32:33 UTC
I hope you still have your old monitor around?
Comment 28 Stefan Dirsch 2007-08-13 10:05:42 UTC
Should be fixed by now (wrong colors, see comment #12). No picture must be a different problem (seperate bugreport?).
