Well, not much information you provide. :-( We usually expect what you tried out, and what failed. But this isn't really much. Please attache the usual logfiles, config files, and program outputs. Thanks in advance. still waiting for some more useful information to work on... I [14/May/2007:01:11:36 -0400] Saving printers.conf... here is the yast configuration messages: names and basic settings: ieee1284controller printer model cannon BJ-100 PPD file cannon foomatic/bj200 connection usb printer on filter settings letter .... restriction settings state and banner settings and got this one via private e-mail too: It seems after adding the usb printer, the printer never get cataloged and has to be re-entered the next time. it does not exist ever for applications. no message ever gets to the cups log about this. the message log reads: May 14 01:10:41 dads-toy kernel: lp: driver loaded but no devices found. and we both know the cannon bj100 is NOT plug and play. Please help me, is the printer connected via USB? Then kernel module "usblp" is required. Or is the printer connected via parallel port? Then kernel module "lp" is required (as you are speaking of). Please attache output of /usr/lib64/cups/backend/usb (run it as user root). Please attached output of "hwinfo --printer", again run it as user root. Still waiting on information / for answers...
