When logged in as root (which has its prompt shown in red color thanks to an ANSI command), the Midnight commander does not show the prompt correctly; the prompt is  not colored and a capital letter 'B' is printed at the end.

Probably the ANSI commands done by MC when drawing its screen clash with ANSI commands in the prompt.
