WONTFIX due to the fact that always I've split someparts off always those parts are missed. And it is a nigthmare of maintaince to split e.g. the docs of because most users relay on those docs. And there there is always a package which requires an other part of texlive splitted off a few mintues ago ... Btw: dvi files are out, use pdftex or pdflatex and xpdf or acroread. the binary okular/kdvi need is kpsewhich and kpathsea. looking at the debian package, this is separated and roughly pulls in 26MB. not that great, but a lot better than ten times as much. Maybe aou would love to become texlive maintainer ... To be noted: I'll not split texlive into useless parts. Beside this: list the size of the *base* of texlive and *base* texlive-latex together with texlive-fonts-extra debian packages and you will see that they are much bigger then 26MB. Please note, that the last package is IMHO always installed because most documents ues other fonts. And please do compare with texlive 2007 from debian ... texlive 2005 is known to be smaller. |
