Description m. bracher 2007-08-05 19:25:18 UTC
In Alpha7 the module for the Intel wireless card ipw3945 is missing
(in suse10.2 it is located in wlan-kmp-default.rpm)
Comment 1 Joachim Gleissner 2007-08-07 12:25:28 UTC
ipw3945 will be replaced by iwlwifi in 10.3. iwlwifi is accidentally not included in Alpha7, I hope this will be fixed in Beta1.
Comment 2 James Ogley 2007-08-10 07:22:11 UTC
Still not present in latest Factory (which reports itself as Beta1)
Comment 3 Perret Florian 2007-08-12 07:00:34 UTC
It's now include in beta1 but not automatically install : should install it with YAST.
Comment 4 m. bracher 2007-08-12 18:44:52 UTC
What is the name of the package? In the SL-OSS-factory I can't find a package called "iwlwifi"
Comment 5 Perret Florian 2007-08-13 06:18:27 UTC
Not sure its the same than bug 295500, in my case 3945 card isn't present in YAST before I install manually the package.

Bracher: search just with 'wifi'.
Comment 6 m. bracher 2007-08-18 16:48:43 UTC
still missing in Beta1. Included in factory.
With a manually copied configuration from suse10.2 (yas2 lan does not save the configuration, separate bug-report) I can start the wlan interface. The following error messages appear, but the connection works:

ifup wlan0
wlan0 device: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (rev 02)
wlan0 warning: WPA configured but may be unsupported
    wlan0 warning: by this device
