Description Stephan Binner 2007-08-10 02:01:32 UTC
The opensuse-manual_en.rpm on the KDE CD is about 20.7MB big. Its uncompressed sources contains about 22MB png files, those size can be reduced by running optipng over to about 16MB. Please do that, that's much needed space on the one CD medias!

This should be done preferably when the source tarballs are created and not for every rebuild within abuild.

Berthold, can you please call 'optipng' on the PNG files as early as possible?
Comment 2 Stephan Binner 2007-08-10 08:17:54 UTC
Dirk did some evaluation a while ago iirc and found that "optipng -o8" results in lowest sizes (but also the most run-time).
Comment 3 Berthold Gunreben 2007-08-15 13:50:14 UTC
I added optipng to the mechanics. This still has to be checked by someone from the docs team. Reassigning to Karl to check.
