Hi, 

sane-backends is only needed by kdegraphics3-scan (remove it from KDE-IMAGE pattern) and hplip-hpijs (dragged in from ???). 

I assume that we can get rid of hplip-hpijs given that we have no cups server on the CD. I would consider printing much more important than scanning anyway. 

the whole fun should free at least 2.7MB. perhaps those can be used for other parts that are missing from the CD.

I rather add the cups server, but I agree that scanning is less interesting than kpat :)
