Description Markus Freikamp 2007-08-12 11:36:43 UTC
YaST PPPoE configuration fails. The config window does not open and also the automatic xDSL recognition fails.

I'm using an ADSL modem without DHCP, just an Ethernet bridge.

If you try to configure PPPoE with YaST after the initial setup, YaST first instal s the missing packets smpppd and kinternet.

So I think it's a dependency problem, smpppd is crucial for the setup process.

I think smpppd is back on the media. Kinternet as well? That would mean we could close this bug as fixed for beta2. coolo, please confirm - or advise how to continue.
Comment 4 Stephan Kulow 2007-08-12 14:13:48 UTC
No, I won't add kinternet. Kinternet is obsoleted since 10.1 and smpppd is only needed for kinternet according to its summary. So I won't add it either. Yast needs to be fixed
Comment 5 Tim Fechtner 2007-08-15 09:21:21 UTC
I was just on the way reporting a bug about that kinternet isn't on the KDE-CD ;-)

You say, kinternet is obsoleted since 10.1. So how get I started an internet connection via a DSL modem manually in 10.2 and 10.3?
Comment 6 Tim Fechtner 2007-08-15 09:48:03 UTC
Okay, it's working with KNetworkManager - I was just a bit confused because I had selected "dial on boot" in YaST when configuring the DSL modem, and now I need to connect with KNetworkManager, but it's working fine.
Comment 7 Michal Zugec 2007-11-29 20:47:28 UTC
Is that problem still in 10.3 Final?
Comment 8 Markus Freikamp 2007-12-02 11:30:00 UTC
No, it's working now.
Kinternet and smpppd are requested during the installation.
Comment 9 Andreas Jaeger 2008-02-19 12:06:13 UTC
OK, then it's fixed.
