Description Jan Blunck 2007-08-15 12:00:59 UTC
The hardware is a Lenovo T61. I didn't install the nvidia driver but use the NV driver.

SaX2 starts and the screen is just black. Switching to a console doesn't work either.

This is a pretty new one. Probably GeForce 8XXX based (G80 family).

This is something for NVIDIA to check.
Comment 6 Stefan Dirsch 2007-08-21 10:03:54 UTC
It doesn't make sense to use the nv driver for this chip, if it doesn't work. Therefore I switched to fbdev driver for this chip for now. Still you can use the NVIDIA driver of course.

Roland, can you reproduce this issue and open a ticket in the NVIDIA bugtracking system if applicable?
Comment 9 Stefan Dirsch 2007-09-13 15:37:43 UTC
I added this patch to the nv driver of openSUSE 10.3 RC1, but I'm not sure if it will fix the issue. Use "sax2 -r -m 0=nv" for testing.

Danny, please test nv driver with the xorg-x11-driver-video package from STABLE. Make sure the RPM changelog entry exists:

* Mi Sep 12 2007 - sndirsch@suse.de
- xf86-video-nv-g80_lvds_detect.diff:
  * G80: Fix LVDS detection on some laptops
