this is a bugreport in result of the gdm + xdg path issue, right? changing the path doesn't change anything for most of the users, because the xdg path counts. Not really. For example I need to use kcontrol to change the default browser for KDE applications. I start "kcontrol" from command line, so xdg path doesn't count. *** Bug 306617 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Set to ASSIGNED by reporter. is a wontfix for 10.3 though due to the danger of regressions. For future - when KDE5 beta shows up, where will you place it? As KDE4 is now in /usr/bin it won't be possible to place it there... What about /opt/kde5? This would have been the right way this time too. Never place a beta in /usr/bin expecially when there is released code placed elsewere... This depends on whether KDE4 will be the default in 11.0 or not, so far it is, so that would mean WONTFIX for 11.0. Keeping open until 11.0 is released, just to make sure. The user can choose either 3.5 or 4.0 in 11.0, so there's not really a default KDE, but let's keep this the way it is. |
