It appears that opensuse-updater-applet is selecting the 48x48 icon which is too large to fit in the space provided by the notification area.

Also because the icon is cut off at the top and bottom, it somewhat resembles (albeit in green) a portion of the male anatomy not normally considered appropriate for public display.

I just call them as I see them. Though having to audit xscreensaver for similar issues in the past, some screensaver authors apparently like rude subliminal jokes, may have made me more aware of how such images can be misconstrued.
