Description Forgotten User CxVz4LpaB5 2007-08-18 13:32:32 UTC
I think that the way XGL is management and, also, the way compiz starts or manage its configuration could be more intuitive in OpenSuse 10.3

right now, the user have to go to a not so easy process to enable XGL and even there, the lambda user does not know that compiz will starts, with which settings and if he has to reboot or not.
Right now, there is a sub division in the sysconfig editor (it's new in beta 1) where the user can finally find a way to enable xgl. I have spend several unnecessary minutes to find where should I go to enable xgl.

As an enhancement, an icon for xgl should appear in yast, as a separate process instead of using sysconfig editor.
Where to put this new management tool? Well, because it is a display thing, maybe in this related section, the same place you manage KDE with the them, style and so on
this management tool should also manage several setting of compiz, like what to load in term of plugin, etc.

Centralizing the management of xgl and compiz could greatly enhanced the way users can see how mature this product is.

Xgl setup is part of the desktop not sax2

If is just a sysconfig value why not in yast2-x11 ?

Daniel, please evaluate

AIGLX is on by default on all supported hardware, so Xgl switch will not be required much, however will still be available in xgl package.

Compiz switch is handled separately.
