I have several test machines with two network cards and I recognized that they do change their order/name/number during installation and update.

As an example I add the config and log files of a Beta 2 installation via CD:

eth1 became eth0 after first reboot. You see in screenshot that YaST shows the same network card twice (DELTA) but not the Intel.


I'm not sure, but maybe the install via CD media is the reason here.

Holger, please seperate update and fresh installation: 
- if fresh installation this is a duplicate of bug 294211.
- if update i would like to have access to such a machine when you start the
  update and before the reboot. Is that possible?

I got it - configuration file was renamed and yast tried to copy old (non-exists) file
Holger is testing it right now
