Description James Ogley 2007-08-24 08:59:49 UTC
As $SUMMARY says, on my wife's desktop machine, nm-applet fails to store the passphrase for the WPA connection in gnome-keyring.

The following output comes from nm-applet at the time:

** (nm-applet:4428): CRITICAL **: nm_gconf_wso_set_key: assertion `key !
= NULL' failed

** (nm-applet:4428): WARNING **: <WARN>  nmi_save_network_info(): Error
saving secret for wireless network 'RiggNet' in keyring: 5

On my machine, running Factory, it works fine.

Could you please specify the nm-applet and Gnome version?
Comment 2 Magnus Boman 2007-08-24 11:25:53 UTC
I think this is a dupe of Bug#301711 which in turn probably is a dupe of Bug#298975.
Comment 3 James Ogley 2007-08-24 21:05:30 UTC
Well, nm-applet didn't crash, so I'm not sure. It may or may not be.

It's nm-applet version 0.6.4 with GNOME 2.16.x from 10.2 with GNOME:Community enabled
Comment 4 Magnus Boman 2007-08-24 21:28:27 UTC
Well, it does not always crash. Sometimes it manages to stay alive, sometimes you will get an abort message and sometimes it will seg fault.
I guess only time will tell (ie, once the keyring is fixed)

Meanwhile, please see Comment#1.

I can't mark it as a duplicate, because this is on 10.2 and the 301711 and 298975 are on 10.3 .
Comment 8 Calvin Gaisford 2007-08-27 17:53:37 UTC
I've updated the gnome-keyring to include the gnome-keyring-2.19.91.tar.bz2 from upstream. The keyring once again works.
