Description Lenz Grimmer 2007-09-04 15:56:05 UTC
This is more of a usability issue than a real problem: the hardware configuration dialogue during the initial installation also configures the X Server and resolution for the desktop. During the autoprobing of the display, it switches from the YaST2 screen to a text console and stays there for some time. Unexperienced users may assume the system has crashed at this point - it would be good if there would be an advance warning message about this, so users know what is going on.

I can't prevent the display from being initialized during the detection
process. I will assign this bug to the new maintainer of yast2-x11 to
decided whether yast should show a popup dialog before:

   $sinit -> doInit();

call in XLib.pm of yast2-x11

This sounds like an enhancement to me.
Comment 3 J. Daniel Schmidt 2008-09-05 16:59:02 UTC
This has already been fixed for Code11. (there is even a duplicate bug, don't know the number)
